Overview

Synopsis: Soft, puffy, whitish lobes nearly covered by very fine soredia; medulla KC+ orange red, P-.
Distribution: San Luis Obispo County, California, south to at least 31oN in Baja California, including Channel Islands (Santa Catalina, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa). Calif: San Luis Obispo Co, San Diego Co (Pike & Hale 1982)
Habitat: coastal chaparral scrub
Range: Central and Southern California
Other Diagnostics: Soredia very fine, generally 15-40 um in diameter.
Substrate Notes: On bark and wood, typically on shrubs (Salvia, Adenostoma) and conifers (Pinus)
Abundance in North America: Present
